After driving a 14 mile round trip should the oil dipstick be too hot to hold. driving at a cruising speed of 65-70 mph, no oil light came on in regards to low pressure. I checked the oil when i parked, and oil was still at the proper level, but dipstick was almost too hot to handle. Is this normal or should I be worried? Things I have checked were valve clearance, timing, spark plugs, ignition point gap. This is a stock 1600 dual port engine. Oil type is castrol 10w30. _________________ flydrone1

| Mine will get hot as well, very hot, but not so hot that I can't hold it. Listen to the engine while driving, if you hear the valves tapping when you accelerate or when you are going up a hill but they stop when you let off the gas, then your engine is over heating. Don't rely on the idiot lights, remember they are just as old as the car and may not be functioning correctly. I do use a different oil than you. I think I use 5W-20 or 25. |

great...thanks for the response Justin. I was just a little curious, and probably a little paranoid. I probably will try a diffrent oil weight. I dont think I am overheating. The engine does sound good....you know that cool engine noise ACVW make _________________ flydrone1
